The environment is the fastest rising topic of discussion in the world and agriculture. In particular, bovines are being cited as one of the major pollutants due to production of greenhouse gases.

Through the Tesco Farm Pledge, it is our collective responsibility to demonstrate the positive impact that farming has had on the countryside and atmosphere.

In this coming year, the research at the Tesco Dairy Centre of Excellence will focus on reducing the environmental impact of milk production – an increasingly important area and one where we are already making good progress.

Last year we were the first retailer to label the carbon footprint of a pint of milk and we have committed to reduce it. In line with the dairy industry’s Milk Roadmap, our milk containers are now made from 10% recycled material.
