As of 5th January 2008 all transporters of cattle, sheep, pigs and goats, equines and poultry over 65km by road will require a certificate of competence. This requirement is in line with the EU Regulation 1/2005 on the protection of animals during transport and related operations which came into effect on 5 January 2007. To increase livestock producers, hauliers, veterinary surgeons and the allied industries awareness and understanding of the latest implementation to the regulation, we would like to invite you to a series of meeting which are sponsored by Defra and organised by ADAS.
