English Indoor Lettuce - Theydon Growers in Royston, Hertfordshire have been supplying Tesco stores exclusively for the past 20 years and are able to supply British produce 365 days a year.

Enzo Canalella took over the company in 2000 when the business only employed a handful of staff and supplied Tesco on a very small scale.
Over the past few years Enzo together with Tesco have seen the importance of British produce grow as the factors of quality, freshness and the desire to reduce imports has pushed the business forward.

Since Enzo took over, the business has expanded year after year, almost ten-fold to supply Tesco with English lettuce. Due to the rapid expansion of Theydon Growers Enzo’s brother, Sam, joined and now manages one of their main production sites, allowing Theydon Growers to become one of the largest glasshouse lettuce producers in the UK. This growth has been achieved by investing heavily in new glasshouse areas and state of the art equipment which allows year round production in the East of England.

Working closely with the world’s leading seed breeders we are able to grow summer and winter varieties which are developed to cope with the ever changing climatic conditions here in England.

The traditional English Glasshouse Lettuce has been developing for the last 80 years and is still one of the biggest selling lettuce varieties in Europe used for salads, sandwiches and even soups!
