Long Clawson
Long Clawson is a farming co-operative and so their board is made up of their member farmers. They have 56 farmer members from 39 farms and they provide approximately 90% of the milk which Clawson use in its cheese. They have enjoyed a 35 year plus relationship with Tesco. Initially they supplied Blue Stilton but now this has grown into supply of blended cheese for pre-pack and deli as well as still maintaining sole supply status for Blue Stilton. The recent success in gaining the finest pre-pack blended business will also continue to benefit the farmers.
Each of their farmers is Freedom food accredited and has been since the late 1990s. As a farming co-operative they work very closely with their farmers to ensure that improvements in efficiencies are ongoing. Clawson have recently done very well at the Royal Bath and West show winning 3 first prizes for Blues and 3 second for Blues. They have also won 3 silvers at the recent World Cheese show awards.
